The Elder of Paradise is a feature-length documentary that examines the remarkable life and legacy of Dr. Franklyn Paul Ferguson, one of The Bahamas’ most respected community leaders, businesspeople, church leaders, and political elders.
Born in Lovely Bay, Acklins, Ferguson rose from humble beginnings to become a trusted leader whose influence extended from church pews and community organizations to the highest levels of national politics. Recognized as both a Stalwart Councillor and a Patriarch of the Progressive Liberal Party, he represented a generation of Bahamians whose commitment to service helped shape modern Bahamas.
Through interviews with family members, political leaders, historians, business leaders, and community voices, the film explores Ferguson’s life while telling the larger story of The Bahamas, the growth of democratic government, and the values that continue to guide the nation today.

ABOUT DR. FRANKLYN P. FERGUSON
Dr. Franklyn Paul Ferguson was a widely respected Bahamian businessman, community leader, church leader, Justice of the Peace, and political elder.
Throughout his life, he was known for his integrity, humility, faith, and commitment to service. His leadership touched numerous sectors of Bahamian society, including business, civic organizations, faith communities, and national politics.
Among his many accomplishments, Ferguson was recognized as a Stalwart Councillor and Patriarch of the Progressive Liberal Party, the highest honors bestowed by the party upon individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment and service over a lifetime.
His influence extended far beyond politics. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend whose legacy continues to impact generations of Bahamians.
